Prosumer fathers revealed as "Digital Dads" Our newly digitized world is changing everything—from how we research products and shop to how kids learn and how we entertain ourselves. Understanding the Millennial Mindset

It is all too common for members of older generations to deride today’s youth for having grown up cosseted by overprotective and always-there “helicopter parents.” Older people bemoan the fact that every young competitor today is handed a sports trophy at the end of the season, making the award meaningless and depriving both stellar and lesser athletes of one of the tough lessons of life. Others speak of the fact that bowling alleys now come with “bumpers”—meaning an entire generation has grown up not knowing what it sounds or feels like to bowl a gutter ball. Directors of school plays are instructed that everyone who shows up gets a part, regardless of commitment or talent.

[caption id="attachment_3318" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="TckTckTck "negotiator trackers," Bangkok Climate Change Conference"][/caption] We know from Euro RSCG Worldwide’s studies of the millennial generation that young people around the globe have an incredible power to effect change, thanks in no small part to the greater connectivity brought about by new technologies and social media. Members of this generation also share a deep sense of duty and pragmatism. Rather than blaming other generations or cultures for the planet’s afflictions, they are ready to shoulder responsibility for creating achievable solutions. Eight in 10 of the millennials we surveyed in our latest global study don’t just believe it is their generation’s duty to change the world, they also believe they have the power to pull it off.
